Quotations
All Quotations and Installations have to adhere to the SANS 10087-1 Standards.
We are registered with the LP Gas Safety Association of South Africa (LPGSASA) as an Preferred Gas Installer.
A Certificate of Conformity is issued with every Installation.
All Quotations are subject to a site visit.
Regulations
Basic Outdoor SANS 10087-1
- Bottle(s) can not be placed closer than 1m to a door.
- Bottle(s) can not be placed closer than 2m to an open drain or depression, where the gas can gather if the bottle leaks.
- Bottle(s) can not be placed closer than 5m to an electrical switch, motor, generator, pool pump etc.
- Bottle(s) can not be placed closer than 1m to the side of a window unless there is atleast 300mm between the bottom of the window and the top of the bottle and a non combustible roof has been placed between the window and the bottle.
- Bottle(s) can not be placed closer than 1m to a boundary wall, unless the wall is a double brick “firewall” > 1.8m tall, with no ventilation gaps in the wall.
- Only a registered LP gas installer may work on a gas system. Every installation must be signed off by installer with a valid certificate.
- Copper pipe must be greater than class 1 or 0.7mm wall thickness (copper used for water is class 0) and any copper pipe passing through or embedded in a wall, cement or ground, must be protected with a protective sleeve.
- Reinforced “orange” hose connecting appliances can not be longer than 2m and the hose can not have any joins and it can not pass through any walls or partition.
Basic Indoor SANS 10087-1
- Ventilation openings at top and bottom of cupboard door is necessary when a bottle is placed inside a cupboard.
- The Gas Hob should not be closer than 200 mm from a wall socket.
- The Gas Hob should not be closer than 200 mm from the stove isolation switch.
- No electrical switch may be in the space or cupboard directly below the hob.
- Only a registered LP gas installer may work on a gas system. Every installation must be signed off by installer with a valid certificate.

Placement of cylinders, size and quantity subject to a site visit.
This includes sites that have been built, sites that have building plans and sites that are busy being built.
Diffference between Installations
Single Installation
A Single Installation is where one pigtail is connected to a Gas Regulator, then Connected to the LP Gas Bottle. When the gas bottle is empty one should connect a new bottle.
Double Installation
A Double Installation is where two pigtails are connected to a Gas Regulator with a switch-over valve, one can connect two gas bottles on this installation. One bottle is used at a time but if the bottle is empty, you manually change the direction of the valve to show which bottle is in use.
Certificates of Conformity
All installations includes an Certificate of Conformity(COC)
We also do Inspecting of Installations and the Upgrading to comply with SANS 100087-7 Standards.
Inspection of existing installations can be done, if installation is compliant a COC can be issued.
Security of Gas Cylinders
There are three different ways to secure a LP Gas Bottle.
SANS Regulation 10087-1 point 5.10.3 states the following:
Domestic Installations do not require that the cylinders be placed in a cage but in such a manner as not to accidentally fall over.
Securing Chain
A chain is connected to a wall with a bolt which keeps the gas bottle from falling over.
